Zero bars--cell service that is at UCONN

Hi,
I thought the parents of UCONN kids could help me out. I am an incoming freshman and when I did my orientation in June I had no cell phone/or texting service. Granted I have service through pocket wireless, but UCONN has been the only place where I had this trouble? What provider should I switch too? I NEED my cell phone.

Thanks

OP – don’t know the answer to your question, but suggest you try posting over on the UConn thread.

What is your provider? I’m from the area and most people I know have Verizon without problems. I think AT&T is probably the next most popular.

It can be the type of phone also. My entire family has different phones with the same provider. There are times when we are in remote areas when some of us have zero bars and no service while others have no problems getting service and show one or two bars. I’ve attributed this to the phone and not the service.

I have family in the area. They all have Verizon and all seem to have no problems. If you have an iphone you may have to kiss it goodbye…

At&t and Verizon seem to work fine at UConn; I have AT&T and, despite its horrendous and well deserved reputation, it worked fine for me up at orientation. I’m pretty sure there are one or two cell towers right near UConn too, so I’m not sure anyone really should have major problems.

Thanks for all your replies. I think I am going with Verizon.
