I looked through the other two threads posted about this, but they weren't very conclusive. For those of you currently on campus, which provider is the most prevalent and reliable. There were a couple posts on the other threads that said Sprint was hands down the best, but others said ATT and Verizon were just as good. I want service that will work both around campus and in the residence halls.

All cell phone providers work decently on campus, (i live in ann arbor). The most reliable, though, is Sprint. My dad's Sprint cell is always on when my T-mobile has like 1-bar. So if you're looking for most reliable, I would say Sprint.

Verizon is beyond terrible. Cant count how many lost calls Ive had

Had Sprint and Nextel freshman year, both were great. People back in Markley would have to leave their phones by the window with Verizon/AT&T, and when calls came in, would have to go out to the stairwell. Never had this problem with Sprint or Nextel, my phone would even work in the bathroom.

Strange.. I have verizon and it works fantastic everywhere. Granted I haven't been in Markley with it yet, but I have never lost service anywhere on campus. It's worked in the basements of all the buildings, in all my classrooms, and good in my dorm room as well. I haven't lost a call yet. :) I'm sure anything you get will be good!

Our experience with our son calling home from his dorm room in South Quad (on a new iphone) is that AT&T/Verizon/Cellular One is terrible. He has to go to the stair well to get "more bars".

They installed new antennas or something this year, so things have changed (at least in Markley). ATT/Cingular is definitely the best.. I never lose signal (at least 3 bars all the time), while everyone else who comes into my room loses signal. Sprint seems to be the next best option. Whatever you do, avoid Verizon, and if possible, T-mobile.

Spirit and Cingular seem like the best. T mobile is decent too but there are few places (the Union basement for eg) where I dont get coverage.So..
