Zero extra-curricular activities

Hi everybody, I am an international student who wants to study in MA,USA but I have a really big problem, i have zero activities and i really mean nothing ( my school has no clubs and i have severe social anxiety) I just want to ask some questions…

Is summer-school at a prep school considered an extra-curriuclar activity??

Would taking a PG year help me with getting extra-curriuclar activities and getting accepted to a college?

Thank you

I don’t think spending an extra year in school just to get some ECs for your application is a good idea. Given your anxiety and general lack of interest in outside activities, it would be unlikely for you to move from zero ECs into valuable leadership positions.
Even if your school doesn’t have a lot of activities, start signing up for something in your community. Join a local low-key sports team, start running and find some running partners, or do volunteer work at a local school or community center. Find some other people who are interesting in environmental issues and help clean up the neighborhood. Go to local government meetings that are open to the public to learn about local issues and see how you can be involved. You can start doing something this month.

Summer school generally isn’t an EC.
I don’t think many colleges will care that you did no EC’s. 90%+ of colleges in the US look only at GPA and SAT, so if those are good, then you’ll be able to get into a very good university, even with 0 extra curricular activities.

-Summer school is not an EC.
-It may not be as big a problem at a large college that may be more stat based, but in general doing nothing except going home, doing homework etc. will not help your application. In general colleges want students to have interests and be involved outside of school.
-Consider if going abroad to college is a smart move for you if you do have “severe social anxiety” to the point where you could not join a club at school.
