<p>SINGAPORE : Top Singapore students from polytechnics and junior colleges are being offered unconditional admission and bond-free scholarships from renowned overseas universities. </p>
<p>Nineteen-year-old Zhang Rui was this year's top 'A' Level science student with nine distinctions, including three Special Papers.</p>
<p>A string of prizes to her name, a packed co-curricular activity record and stellar results on her Scholastic Assessment Test (SAT) also ensured two prestigious scholarship offers from the Public Service Commission and the Monetary Authority of Singapore. </p>
<p>But she is one of a growing number of top students who choose to forgo bonded scholarships for an admissions offer worth some US$47,000 a year from a top institution like Princeton University.</p>

<p>Looks as though more overseas universities are trying to keep their very best students at home with more competitive scholarship offers.</p>
