I realize I get really drowsy (start to tear) when reading the critical reading passages and I lose concentration and eventually slow down. I'm thinking about drinking 1/4 the bottle of 5 Hour Energy every time I feel drowsy during the SATs. What do you guys think? I'm going to try it tomorrow at home while taking a practice test and see what the results are.

2 things, I don’t think we can drink anything during the exam and usally in the reading section people minds tend to wander off so you’re not along. I recommend getting more sleep.

A girl behind me was drinking a Mountain Dew during the test one time. I got really distracted with her fiddling around with the cap and with my stomach growling out loud. Anyway, it’s technically not allowed, but it basically comes down to the Proctor. In my case, she just kept thumbing through a Peoples magazine. ~I drank two Red Bulls (not consecutively) before my test and was still having trouble staying awake. If you can, try your best to go without it. Unless your body is very familiar with energy supplements (5hr energy, monster, red bull…etc) it might have a negative effect on your testing capabilities. It really drains your brain! If I may ask, are you registered for the SAT on May 5th, 2012?

Try it on a practice test first to see how it affects your concentration.

Thanks for the responses and yes I registered for May 5th, I’ll report back here tomorrow to see if I get any score improvements from drinking a little bit of the energy drink (fingers crossed).
