Hey guys, I just got my SATII Spanish test results, and, well, they suck. Not the CC low-700 suck, but the 570 kind of suck. I was wondering how badly you think it would ruin my chances. My UW gpa will be a 3.8, W a 4.0. Expecting SAT to be over 2200 (2130 single sitting sophomore year). Two other SAT IIs expected in the 700s. Extracurriculars will be great, essays great, teacher recs great. Its just this one score I'm worried about.

If your other two SAT IIs are in the 700s, you should be fine, because (if I'm not mistaken) none of the colleges on your list requires three SAT IIs.
If it makes you feel better, the SAT II Spanish is pretty hard. It is said that a lot of native speakers take it, distorting the curve.

You think you have bad scores, I did badly on the SAT I. xD I got even worse scores for the November sitting. But I don't think one bad SAT II score will hurt you.

Is 570 the right score for you, or did you have a bad day? If the latter, just take it again; some (most?) schools use only the highest scores for any given section.

Well, its not my native language, and I actually broke my toe the thursday before the test, so I spent thursday night in the ER. I guess I'll have my GC explain that, and I'll retake w/o listening in June. But when I saw my score I was crying because I really expected at least a 650.

So its not the end of the world? So many people apply to Wesleyan and Barnard (my top 2), that I'm scared that even the slightest imperfection will ruin my chances (especially at wesleyan, barnard seems more holistic in their approach).

I really think you'll be okay. First, if the colleges require two SAT II scores, they will take the two highest ones. Second, if you can retake the test and if you're further along in Spanish at school, you will likely do better. My D took the Spanish test a second time with no special preparation but six months after the first time, and she improved by 110 points. Don't worry.

No, I'm a junior, but I'm taking AP spanish, the highest level, this year so I wanted to take the listening test before i forgot everything over the summer. Oh well, guess I'll have to re-take in June.
