Few weeks ago, some dude from Princeton Review came to our school to do this semina during lunch break and he said that in the writing part of the New SAT, the markers only allow themselves like one minute to grade the essays.

Man, is this true? I better improve my writing then :P

pretty much...for the sat 2 writing, i know they spend under 2 minutes, but they prolly only spend that much time cuz it is specifically for writing...they have to grade like, 50000 tests (i have no clue what the actual number is) within 3 weeks...

one of the english teachers in my high school had graded the essays for the writing portion, and she said you basically need a very bright and attractive start and good constructions throughout your essay. the way essays are graded is not even based on classroom standards. thus an essay that earns you a 12 might not earn you an A in your english class.

Yeah, they're not gonna be really harsh on the essay since you only have something like 20 min. to do it. Just a basic no-frills essay will get you a 12.
