I heard that if applying RD, the app should be in one month before the deadline? Is this true?

What's the purpose of a deadline if you're going to set another deadline before it?

even 1 minute earlier is OK.

I know this question is going to sound dumb.. They'll receive our application after the deadline right? Is there any deadline for receiving our appl, for eg they won read those appl which arrive after nov 10.. Is there such thing?

I have never heard anything about applying before the deadline until this year when Yale has said it will begin reading EA apps before the 11/1 deadline. Applying a month in advance is not the conventional wisdom. It might be at other schools, but I've never heard anything about that in the 5 or so years I've lurked on this site or in my many years as an alumn interviewer.

The only slight advantage it MIGHT impart is for areas with limited alumni interviewers. You're more likely to get assigned an interviewer in this circumstance -- but then again, how weighty interviews in general are, is another question all together.

But as to any substantive advantage? Only that it's one thing off your list of "to dos".

I remember last year, I was past the requested due date in submitting an interview report. My area admissions rep said that they hadn't even gotten around to reading my state's files yet (this was March, BTW).

I submitted my app (online) 1 or 2 days AFTER the RD deadline.
