1 on AP Chemistry- To cancel or not to cancel?

Hello all,

I guess I wasn't surprised I would get a bad score but I didn't expect a 1. My results this year (Junior year) were:

APUSH- 5
AP PHysics B-3
AP Chem- 1

Yikes. I know. Funny thing is I used to be a super science geek. Yes, I went to ISEF, aced Freshman Biology Honors with ease and even did research at a university in the city for a whole summer. Super science geek.

I guess my brain just completely shifted. History and literature and psychology are much much more interesting to me now. I guess I didn't find anymore joy in looking at the world through numbers and formulas.

Anyways. The teacher for AP Chem was SUPER nice, I mean the nicest guy ever really. I loved him, still do. HOwever his teaching style wasn't great I think. I got away with not doing homework, I was generally not interested in the subject (I signed up mid-Sophomore year at the height of my love for science) and I never dropped it, so I didn't pay attention, didn't do homework, and somehow scraped by with a B and B+ for the semester.

So should I cancel or not cancel? I think I shouldn't, show some integrity and that I at least tried. But I'd like to hear your advice too. And don't be afraid to ask questions too if you need more detail about why I completely failed haha.

Thank you guys!

Are you saying you didn’t get your scores back but you expect to get a 1? Because, I’m pretty sure, that you can’t choose to cancel a score once you actually receive it.

At any rate, there’s very little point in cancelling an AP test. Colleges will see all your scores, but only after you’re accepted and registering. If you’re not a senior, simply don’t report the bad scores. If you are a graduated senior, colleges will have already accepted you and they aren’t going to rescind you for one (or twenty-billion) bad AP scores.
