I recently switched majors from electrical engineering to biology (Physiology at UCSB or Human Bio at UCSC), but due to a chemistry prerequisite, I won't be able to take my 2nd semester of general biology by the end of spring 2015, which prevents me from applying to the fall 2015 term. What do I do? I can't find much information on spring/winter transfers to the UCs, is it possible to transfer then? Do I really have to wait an entire extra year at my community college for 1 course?

Spring/winter transfer isn’t really possible, as far as I know.

Can you fit the class in anyways? Can you take a summer class to keep on track? Or you could apply with a missing pre-req and take it after transfer, but that hurts your chances in admissions. You might also be able to plead your case to a professor/administration and get into the class without the pre-req completed.

Ok, I found a sister college 35 mins away that offers the approved biology course without the prerequisite, thank god

@Quackerz - if the class is part of a sequence, you usually have to take the whole sequence at 1 school. I’m not sure if that applies to your situation, but just giving you a heads up.
