1 question missed in SAT means 760 points?

Hi everyone,

I got 760 in the Math section of SAT but I just had 1 question wrong. Can that be possible or the SAT team made a mistake?

yup. that’s why the sat has 1500 average. go figure

It’s usually not this bad, usually 1- is a 780ish, but no, there was no mistake, this was a really bad curve…

Thanks guys! I also think this was a really bad curve.

This is a first. The SAT has never had a Math section before January 2012 where -1 = 760 on a QAS month. All of the previous times it has had a Math section that harsh have been on non-QAS months.

^^ This is true, I just checked the curves chart.

I must admit though, I understand why it is so, as I don’t think there was a single “real level 5” question in the entire test, you know, the type where sometimes you have to go to CC to find the answer for.

^ I actually wish I had a test like this one. When I took the SAT, I had a more difficult Math section where -1 = 790. I would much rather have had a very easy Math section where -1 = 760 than a more difficult one where -1 = 790.

Wow, must’ve been a really easy SAT math.

I disagree ACTTester. For me, the SAT math doesn’t get so difficult that I would prefer an easier section overall.

Yup I think it’s a matter of how many silly mistakes you make / how consistently you perform. If you don’t make silly mistakes, an easy math section is an easy 800.

I’m not saying the SAT Math section is difficult. However, if you’re aiming for a perfect score and not someone that makes careless errors, I think you would agree with me that you would prefer a Math section where -1 = 760 to one where -1 = 790, just because however much easier the section is, the closer you are to a perfect score.

Exactly my point.

Dang -1 760?? And you guys think there were few level 5 questions.

Feels liks a missed oppertunity. Maybe I shoulde have taken it in January haha.
I agree with the others on that I would rather take a easy test with harsh curve
just because it sets that high confidence throughout the test. Tough test kind
of demoralizes you.
