I got the very last problem wrong on my SAt math test, which was also the only one wrong, and... I have 770 instead of something more sensible like 800 or 790???

yes.

It varies from test to test. One wrong could result in a 800 score, but I think I’ve seen it as low as 760 too.

Happened to me too… I’m thinking of retaking in October one last time, since I’m still really mad about that.

Depends on the curve. Some SAT tests have gone as low as 760 for one wrong.

My D got 3 wrong, 1 omitted for a 680. It is a pretty harsh curve.

FYI, it is worse on the PSAT. My friend missed only one question on the test; unfortunately, it was in math, and she ended with a 235. Do a ton of practice, to the point that you can never miss a SAT math question.

But thanks for telling me though

I know two kids who got one wrong at different times. My son got a 760 and someone else got a 780. Funny thing is that both said the question they got wrong was “count on your fingers simple.” Don’t lose sleep over it.
