It's a public university. around 100-150 students from my school class go to this university. So how often will I see those from my school? Is it easy to meet new people and stuff? BTW I'm social and outgoing, just looking for the right "mix" of friends that I like....

You’ll probably see people from your school pretty often. 10,000 is kinda small.

Ha to Boolean. I go to a school with about 2200 kids. There are a total of 8 people from my high school. I see two of them and thats because they live on my floor. The other 6 I occasionally, but rarely see.

If this happens on a campus this small, then I’m SURE it will happen at a school with 10,000

10,000 seems like medium. If 100 people from your school go there you’re sure to run into them occasionally.

That’s medium-sized. Tiny LACs have 2000. Most Ivy League schools have around 6000. Flagship state schools have up to, what, 50 000?

That’s pretty medium-sized. You’ll probably bump into them now and again but if you don’t have the same classes or join different clubs and stuff, then chances are you won’t really seem them. Flagship state schools vary but they’re upwards of 20000-40000

For me I think 10,000 students equals to a small school. My current school has 9,500 and I consider it small.

That’s on the small side on my opinion.

It doesn’t matter how big your school is as much as what you do at your school that determines whether you see certain people. My school is medium or large and I see the same people all the time. If you are like the people from your school, you will see them when you are doing the same things.

You’ll run into them frequently, but you won’t see them all the time. You’ll be unlikely to have days where you see no one you knew, but you won’t be always around them.

I go to a state school from a high school which was a big feeder school to it as well. Though my school has 26000 undergrads. I might see people I knew every few days. Another thing though is my college has two split up campuses, and I am often on the smaller one (with much fewer students from my high school).

i have some friends going to this school and i don’t mind most of the people in my school. what are the chances of bumping into this ONE person?

You’re trying to avoid one person…?

Unless you two plan on the same major or majors which have a lot of overlap, you’ll probably never see them. 90% of the time whenever I see someone I knew it is another freshman in Engineering taking the same class as me.

It’s medium sized. Small is under 5000, big is over 15000 or maybe over 20000

I would consider anything under 2500 very small, anything under 5000 small, anything under 10,000 medium, and anything over 50,000 outrageous.

10000 is small, expect to see them.

150/10000 is a sizable percentage over 8/2200. You really can’t even compare them.

That being said I attend a school of about 30,000 students. I only know a handful of people here (outside of my dept) but I still see them once in a while.

I’d probably consider it as on the borderline between medium and big. For me, small is under 3000, medium is 3000-10000, and big is anything larger.

In your case, you probably would see your high school classmates around. 150/10000 is only 1.5% of the campus, but when you think about it, you’d probably see at least 600 people every day walking to and from class, and 1.5% of 600 is 9, so you could expect to see someone from your high school in some way every day.
