Does the size bother you or does it not matter once you are there? I am considering a school that is 30,000+ and I am worried I am going to get lost in the crowd. Any opinions would be helpful :)

I love it, approx 24000 undergrad

I can be anonymous, or I can stand out. I have hundreds of opportunities to join clubs and meet new people. In a lecture hall of 400 your professor might now know your name. It's up to YOU to get to know your professors. Like when you get out in the real world and you work for a corporation and get hired by the HR staff without meeting the bigwigs who are going to review your performance and give you the big promotion, YOU have to seek them out to make sure you're noticed, not them seeking you out.

I meet new people every day, but I also love the out-of-the-blue moments of running into an old friend at a random spot on campus.

School spirit is amazing. I love going to basketball game with 5000 other people and screaming our hearts out with our faces painted and shirts proudly representing our school, and then being able to go our separate ways.

I have my small group of 10-15 friends at college that I'm really really close to, and we do a lot together. But when we need our own space or to go hang out with other friends, it's totally cool.

If you become a hermit and don't socialize, don't let professors know that you ARE more than a 9-digit student ID number, you will get lost in the crowd. Make yourself standout, and people will be able to pick you out of the crowd.

I hear that a lot of people make the adjustment easier by joining the Greek System, a special learning community, or an honors college.

Although, that completely depends on personal preference.

Also, it could be helpful to specify which school you're talking about. That way a current student or alumni could give you better advice.
