is this book outdated?

is the new test completely different?

Oh, no. The book is totally good. Some tests in the Blue Book has been imported from the 10 Real SAT. Sometimes I even find it more useful than the current Blue cover version.

it is outdated, as it contains the analogy section of the Verbal (not CR), has a different format/timing, those math comparisons and doesn't include parts of precalculus that are now tested.

i wouldn't recommend using it in full practice lengths b/c of these differences,
but it was still helpful in prepping question by question.

i just ignored all the analogy questions and used it in short 10 min intervals for reading passages and whatever math questions that looked difficult upon first glance

Oh that analogy sometimes become useful, since I learn vocab from it as well. The Math section is absolutely fine, just work out, combine with the Blue anyone is smart shall get a combo.

i heard that the red book's CR was a bit harder than the blue book's, is that true?

since they had analogies and more topics, the CR usually had more questions and fewer passages, so if you get stuck on one passage, it seems harder.

i thought the more questions per topic rly made the CR practice helpful, since it tests the many possibilies for each type of passage

Regard to the Math section, sometimes, yes.
For the passage I recognise 3 of them have been imported to the blue book.

The book isn't outdated, I drilled through all the passages and SC in there and was able to bump up my CR 100 points. By the time I had completed all those passages, I was confident in choosing the proper answers to the passage questions (I especially the iffy ones). You start to screen out which ones are herrings and which ones are legit.
