I know people usually divide it equally between both the essay prompts ( 500, 500 )

but will it hurt to write a 750, 250 combo

thanks.

ummm....what about 600-400...250 might just look like a paragraph and you wont be able to make a full argument...but thats just me

My son's last year was about 700/300.

I did 400 600.

I did 750/250

did all of u get in?>

I'm assuming VolleyballDad's son got in...Waiting4College, Castel, and I attend Cal.

oh okay..thanks

i did like 600/400.
i got in too.

I did 700/300 if I remember correctly

i did 640 and 430, a bit ove.....oh well

would 1,032 word count be ok? I wrote 603 and 429.

thats fine

I'm sure you can cut it down more @ GPAx123

but is it okay to be over the limit by a bit..i am also around 30 words over the limit..i initially was 100 words and i managed to cut down to 30..but its getting harder to cut down even more..so is it okay to be over the limit by around 30 words?...thanks

my year we had three prompts and were instructed to do 200 on two of them and 400 on one of them

The important thing is substances, so if you think you can write a convincing argument that answers the prompt in 250 words- go for it.
I personally think you should have at least 300 words or even better a 600/400 split. But it's up to you to decide how much room you need to express yourself.

I asked a person from admissions if they look negatively on someone writing 750/250 and he said it made absolutely no difference if the prompt is answered.

only leave your essays the way they are if there is absolutely no way for you to cut it down. I'd say try really hard not to go over 1050.

Lol. Mine's 540 and 560. Yeah, I'm 100 words over, but it fits exactly, so I don't care. And no, I can't cut it down because if I do, it'll be crap. =]
