Granny Cart Lady — what student doesn’t have a story or two about this Tulane institution? For those interested, here is a bit more information:

Tulane is 4% Black, 3% Hispanic, and 4% Asian. (collegeboard.com)

The “geographic diversity” is basically just a bunch of yankees who relocated to New Orleans (the 75% come from more than 500 miles away statistic). They come from far away, but they all come from the same place (the nyc and boston metro areas). It’s like being in suburban Jersey except it aint cold. Also their is an extremely large Jewish population. Not that it’s a bad thing, but 30+% Jewish is not diversity.

“59. Real Vampires”
“OMG, lol. # 59 is great! Have you had the pleasure of meeting one? Just curious.”

Anyone wants to meet a real vampire, hang out behind St. Louis Cathedral around midnight. If you want to meet a real person who thinks that he is a vampire, go to the Dragons Den on Esplanade.

I will give you a good one - surprised I got the jump on Fallen Chemist, but with my daughter being a senior, I guess I have this information first.

102?

Anderson Cooper will be the special guest speaker at this years’ graduation!!!

we should add the great daily emails Tulane sends to parents and student! I read about Anderson Cooper too! Also read about the restoration of the alumni house.

Does Tulane have any weakness? This thread make them seem perfect.
I guess the cons are
-Possibility of another Katrina
-High crime in the city
-Decline population
-People like to use the word “■■■■■”(which is very informal)

To us locals, Saint Louis Cathedral is in the Quarter. You mentioned that you could meet a real vampire if you hung out behind Saint Louis Cathedral. And we generally don’t distinguish between the French Market, Jax Brewery and the French Quarter. They’re all areas that are hard to park in and very expensive. Unfortunately, most locals don’t go to the Quarter. My son is almost 18 years old, and other than going to the Aquarium, he has never been to the Quarter. Something I hope to change before he goes away to college. Of course, if he goes to Tulane, I’m sure he’ll have plenty of opportunity to enjoy the Quarter with his newfound friends.

Tulane may have its vampires, but they’re nowhere near the problem the University of Chicago has with werewolves, and I’ve heard that at both Penn and Duke the zombies are just out of control.

I’m laughing, Montegut. When I was in high school, the only time that I EVER went to the quarter was on the night before the last day of school, when we went to Pat O’s and stayed out all night, and when Alabama was in the Sugar Bowl. But, I’m with you. I love exploring the quarter now when I’m home. Just not the icky bars.

For better or worse, I am going to try and change some of the transient ones into more enduring ones. For example, I am making the Ellen Degeneres as commencement speaker point into a reference to the general string of notable speakers (Presidents Bush 41 and Clinton, Degeneres, Anderson Cooper, Carville and Matalin, and Tom Friedman this coming May.

OK, I have asked them to make this a sticky thread. Come on you current students. I am challenging you to come up with more current things to add here, but try not to make them overly specific if they are not likely to be recognizable in a year or 2.

I see they are further along! No way WUSTL and St. Louis can beat Tulane and New Orleans! Although I didn’t examine their list for duplicates or things that don’t belong. A quick glance tells me #16 and 53 are dupes on theirs, there may be others.
