Pros/Cons of Tulane?

I received a VIP application and sent it in, so I want to give this school a hard look. I have not visited yet, but was wondering what some of the best and worst things about it were.

jckund - Impossible to say without a frame of reference. What are you looking for in a college/university?

i plan on majoring in business and was hoping for a small/medium size school (<10k undergrad)... I just wanted to know what current students thought of the school.

jc - I know there are some terrific kids in the UG business school at Tulane, but I have no idea where the business school is ranked nationally. Internships are a problem, as NOLA isn't a business-centric city.

PS, Sorry about the tardy response. Stock market, you know.

Freeman School @ TULANE - Rankings
That might help. Liberal arts/science major here, so I'm not too familiar with the business school unfortunately. The building is quite nice inside (and outside, of course), for what that's worth. Latest equipment, snazzy library, etcetera.

Tulane University - Students to Meet Billionaire Investor Warren Buffett
Is an interesting read as well. Meeting Buffett would be pretty awesome, at least to me.

i am a freshman in the business school here and so far, i love it!

the faculty is amazing & the facilities are great (especially in the building mainly used by the grad students).

i can't really think of any cons to it. plus, the freeman students get some special priveleges by being in the business school, such as nice places to study in the business building.

i highly recommend it!

but does anyonee know if tulane business school has good career placements/ internships. whats the status on those who graduated?

eri - Tulane has the reputation of having a strong alumni network. When my D was considering applying, I contacted alumni around the country to ask about their experiences both at Tulane and afterward. FWIW the responses were uniformly enthusiastic.

Does anyone know anything about Tulane’s communications/English program?

I don’t know anything about communications, but the English program is very strong. Obviously New Orleans is a city that is known as a writer’s Mecca, and the department has a good diversity of specialities and strengths.
