<p>LOL-- Don’t think Dat Dog or Philly cheesesteak are listed, especially since the announcement about the coming of Philly Cheesesteak just happened yesterday! Feel free to add Freret renaissance, and not sure I agree with your description of “Cheap living”, but thats your call. I would leave my post #95 to stand as is. Feel free to ADD “freret renaissance” if you’d like. I’ll post an updated list.</p>

<p>I have to add something special that Tulane has to offer now that my DD is officially a part of the Tulane community. ( It can be #102 if need be!) A great benefit of Tulane is Fallenchemist! I know I am speaking for a lot of people. You are such a wonderful resource for TU. It’s reassuring to have a non biased (almost) resource available!</p>

<p>Thank you oliver, that is very flattering. I am glad you added the (almost), because I have no doubt that I am biased. But because I think Tulane is really great, I will not hesitate to criticize when I know they are falling short in something. Hey, no school is perfect.</p>

<p>Anyway, I am on “vacation” and the family is all together, which is great. My D is just a few feet away in her Tulane hoodie, and later she is taking me out for sushi at a new place (one of my Christmas presents). I know the rest of you that have kids in college already are enjoying having them home also. But when I get back to Rhode Island I promise I will update this list, I have a couple of ideas to help clean it up that I think you will all like, and can help give a constant reference point to those looking for advice on where to stay and to eat in the future, so we don’t have to retype it all the time.</p>

<p>AMEN to that!!! He is fantastic!!! </p>

<p>Happy New Year Fallenchemist!!!</p>

<p>You’ll have friends all over the country after you graduate</p>

<p>It has a Harry Potter Club (Dumbledore’s Army of Tulane). Enough said.</p>

<p>It is a good school with good scholarships and great environment</p>

<p>Southern Ivies
by Scott Jacobson
Interested in the Southern Ivies?
The Ivy League is a group of colleges that are steeped in academic excellence and social elitism. However, not everyone can attend an Ivy League school. There are many other schools that will give students a quality education and collegiate experience. The southern ivies are a group of schools that also have top rankings. Although there is no official list for the southern ivies, the unofficial list is detailed below.
Southern Ivies
Duke University (Durham, NC)
Tulane University (New Orleans, LA)
Rice University (Houston, TX)
Emory University (Atlanta, GA)
Vanderbilt University (Nashville, TN)
Wake Forest University (Winston-Salem, NC)
Southern Methodist University (Dallas, TX)
The term southern ivy is an unofficial term to describe the above universities. It compares the universities in the same manner as the official Ivy League, by academic quality and social prestige. Similar to the way the Ivy League started, the southern ivy started as an attempt to create an athletic conference in the 1950’s. The Southern Ivy League, or Magnolia Conference never became an official title, however.
Some academic experts will add some additional universities to the above list in order to include the same number as the official Ivy League, although, they are not commonly seen on the list all of the time. These universities include Georgetown University, George Washington University, and the University of Miami.
The type of education you receive will make a big impact on your success in the professional world. The above universities may not be a part of the official Ivy League. However, they are steeped in academic excellence and social prestige.</p>

<p>And all the above comments!</p>

<p>Ticket to Ride…How about guys like this riding the streetcar down St Charles, singing a tune and being ignored, :), wow. Great story. Apparently he comes quite often.</p>

<p>[Did</a> Sir Paul McCartney get a ticket to ride the New Orleans streetcar during Super Bowl 2013? | NOLA.com](<a href=“http://www.nola.com/music/index.ssf/2013/02/did_sir_paul_mccartney_get_a_t.html]Did”>http://www.nola.com/music/index.ssf/2013/02/did_sir_paul_mccartney_get_a_t.html)</p>

<p>What are Tulane’s academic strengths? Academics are important in one’s college choice (or even professional school choice) So far, the only academic strength I can think of is public health… Tulane trained roughly half of the physicians holding MD/MPH dual degrees in the US for a reason.</p>

<p>Tulane has many strengths, actually but this is not the thread to discuss them. Start a new thread for this, if you want.</p>
