i took the act last time and had a 27 w/o essay and got a 10 making it 28

i took the act again and got a 26 without essay and an 11 making it a 28...

overall my scores are fluctuating within all areas, ill do well in two one time and do well in two the next time. rite now i have a 27. im pretty disappointed with this score, does anyone know how to improve consitency. b/c if they super scored this thing i would have a prolly a 29, but unfortunately in one seating, i cant accomplish anything

Don't be so down on yourself! You just need to build up your stamina. Have you taken many practice tests? If you're going to do the ACT again, then be sure to take at least 4-5 full-length, timed tests, so that you can go the distance on test day.

ive taken a lot of practice tests under ideal time conditions, i seem to do much higher on those than the real thing. especially science. i wish this thing was superscored

Hey, congratulations on the essay score. I found that taking practice tests really helped for me, but only if I took the questions that I either guessed on or answered incorrectly and studied those to find out my weak spots and correct them. I went up 4 points this way, but everyone has a different method of preparation. A lot of people improve their score because they may have bad days the first few times.

Other than preparing and looking over your answers, my biggest two recommendations are:

Get a good night's sleep. (I know this has been said before, but I think it truly makes a difference.)

WEAR COMFORTABLE CLOTHING TO THE ACT.

Also, maybe try taking individual tests (i.e. 2 English sections on Monday, 2 Math on Tuesday, etc.) Everyone says not to do this, but I'm pretty sure I've never completed a practice ACT all the way through in one sitting.

Personally, I never took an entire practice test in one sitting. You will get so much more out of taking one section at a time. By doing this, you can go back to the questions you miss immediatly and learn from your mistakes.

I got a 31 without ever taking a full, regulation practice test. Just study Cracking the ACT and memorize their english review section. It is the most concise and useful review I have ever seen in a single book.
