Trying to find some suggestions on a boarding school to apply to for my junior and senior year.
I am a male and an Eagle Scout. I play tennis but not nationally ranked. I have a 3.8 GPA with honor classes. Honor roll each year. I am heavily involved in school clubs.
Would like a coed school with below 500 students. Need partial FA so this might be difficult. I am looking for a traditional, preppy boarding school to get the overall experience. My PSAT is 88% percentile.
Please send me suggestions as this would greatly aid. I am highly determined to get into a great boarding school.
What do you mean by “traditional, preppy”? All boys? Dress code? Sit down dinners?
Many will offer partial FA.
If you look at the websites for Avon Old Farms, Hill, and St. George’s, what’s your reaction to each? Those all seem to be what I think of when I think of those attributes, but your response could be informative.
Has to be a coed school. Traditional boarding school with sit down meals. Does not have to have an uniform. Well brought up students that are friendly and come from a more affluent background.
You don’t reallly mean that you only want to attend school with kids who are more affluent than you?
If you are open to going to school with top students from around the world and perhaps getting some international experience by attending a boarding school in Wales, Holland, Italy, Costa Rica, Canada, India, Singapore, etc, you might want to consider United World Colleges. Each country, including the US, picks top students to represent the country at the 13 participating boarding schools.
The program is for 11 and 12th grade only… or for 12th grade plus a PG year and follows the International Baccalaureate curriculum. Colleges love UWC students.
BTW, most UWC kids are heavily subsidized by their national committees, so they might not all be as wealthy as you hope?
