I haven't decided whether i'm going to apply early next year or not but if so i want to get a feel for what kind of kids would be applying there with me.
Summer - Worked full time at a business/biotech internship last summer, same this summer

Yeah that's about it. No legacy/minority stuff, unless being Arab counts which i'm sure it doesn't haha. Just wondering - is it bad if i've only taken 3 years of a foreign language (spanish)? Nice to hear from other future yale applicants!

Just out of curiosity, my mom went to Yale so I would be a legacy. I am thinking about applying ED, and am wondering how much this would help. I am a good student, top 5% of class, and might be a recruited athlete for golf. My standardized test scores are not of the same caliber as most other applicants (under 2100) and am wondering if having a legacy could make up for this deficit.

I'd say that the main question here is how good exactly are you at golf. If you are being seriously recruited for any sport standardized testing scores and grades aren't as important. In response to the part about legacy, the rule is that legacy only tends to help if you're applying early which you plan to, so if you would like to play that to your advantage you should definately apply early. Also Yale is EA (non-binding) not ED so I don't really see any reason that you shouldn't go for it. Good luck next year.

Ok, being a legacy does help at Yale, but not a lot. legacy mostly comes into play as more of a "tiebreaker" -- if there are a couple applicants "vying" for one spot in the admissions committee, and they're all equally qualified, the legacy will get the bump in. Legacy is NOT a guaranteed in at Yale...most applicants get in around a 9% rate, legacies get in around 15%. So yes, it does help, but it's not a miracle-working hook. Legacy can also help you regular, even if you don't do early.

I'm debating among Yale EA, Stanford EA, or Columbia ED still. Any advice would be appreciated!
