yah i've been to UCSD like 5times it was pretty ugly...(no offensive)
after, i didn't want to go to SD haha

There were eucalyptus trees here before UCSD existed (they just kept them and have maintained them over the years).

UCSD is a lot nicer than most other universities I have visited. The architecture can be random, but there is a lot of construction going on and continuity is kind of lost there (but the new buildings themselves are generally ok looking).

Also, UCSD's main campus is a lot bigger than most I have been to, so you can't really judge it unless you have seen all of it (taking an hour long tour probably won't do much..)

I didn't dislike anything specific about UCSD when I visited other than the utter ugliness of the campus. On the other hand, just seeing UCLA...well, I fell in love.

^Did you see South Campus at all? oo;; It's like uglier than the Revelle dorms at UCSD >>;;

I really like UCSD's campus... Its rather eccentric, in the most positive sense of the word. The Muir dorm's are kinda hideous, but other than that the campus is very nice. Its a modern artists paradise dream, really... I particularly like the expansion behind York Hall with all the glass clashing against the 60s retro of York and Bonner... I like it!

UCSD is ugly in parts.....especially Muir, Revelle, and Marshall. Warren and ERC are really nice looking and the area near the Financial Aid office

From what I saw of UCSD when I visited, I thought it was pretty nice-looking. My taste can be a little offbeat, I admit, but I just don't see it being one of the ugliest campuses in the country.

Now if we were ranking "most unnecessarily sprawling" or "most inefficient layout" or something similar, UCSD would be at the top of my list.

UCSD isn't ugly. It's certainly not as pretty as UCLA but I wouldn't call it ugly.

I actually like the AP&M building, it has ivy growing up the sides! :O

Plus there is a lot of construction going on (price center expansion, the music building across from pepper canyon hall, the super computer expansion, north campus housing..)

The overall appearance will continue to change over the next decade or so (for the better)

Also mercado and sierra... and the new apt block... muir is getting shafted lol

true, but i'd move there in a heartbeat for the [potential view of] ocean, and i always liked summit & el mercado more than all the other dining halls. plus, i daresay muir is closest to all the campus buildings.

camp snoopy might be as well, but they have to walk uphill every day :)

at least he didn't have MIT in there :)

I forgot to mention that sierra and mercado are going to BOTH get renovated next year for those who haven't heard, hence muirons are gonna get shafted.. now I gotta walk an extra block to OVT or two to plaza :

I came from UCLA, land of the red brick, and I have to say that, well...

I don't really like UCSD's campus.

O great UCLA student who comes from the "land of red bricks," please oh please grace us with your oh so superior opinions

Lmfao!!! ^^

OhSnapz,

I'm a grad student at UCSD. It's not like I don't have a stake in UCSD's facilities. In my opinion, and I am certainly entitled to it, UCSD's campus is not well-planned or terribly attractive and it hurts its ability to present a positive image. When it comes down to two schools, and one has markedly superior aesthetics than the other, many people, including grad students and faculty, will choose the prettier campus. If you have to spend hours upon hours a day on a campus, you want it to be visually appealing.

This is why I am so vocal about UCSD's lack of visual appeal: because it matters.

yea.. ucsd is pretty fugly... i think the prettiness goes from...

ucla.. ucsb/ucd/ucsb.. ucb/uci.. then ucsd. I've never been to ucm or ucr.

UCSB is in a gorgeous setting. The campus itself is pretty ugly.

UCR and other crap colleges are 1*10^999999999 uglier than UCSD. The people who made that list are obviously blind /stupid!
