Rutgers

Also, should I even bother applying to University of VA and Bucknell?

Please reply with what you believe are my chances for these schools.. Thanks

Northeastern - safety (?)
Virginia Tech - safety
North Carolina State - safety
Clemson - match
University of Delaware - safety
Drexel - match (?)
Rutgers - safety (in-state)
Bucknell - slight reach
UVA - big reach

The answer to your question is yes. What do you have to lose, application fees? You may not have a huge chance at those schools, but without applying, your chances are 0%

Virginia is not a BIG REACH, it's a slight reach. The OP falls in the middle 50% of accepted applicants SAT's, has a solid GPA, is in the top 10%, and has 4 year committments as well as being the captain of 2 varsity sports. I think they have a chance there.

Does UVA have a stronger engineering department than VA Tech? That's something you should look into, I'm not sure it does...

The applicant is also OOS and at UVA in-state and out-of-state make a world of difference as far as admissions. The middle 50% takes into account a lot of the in-state students who would not get in from OOS. The one thing the OP has in his favor are extracurriculars, so maybe a mid-reach.

Va Tech is stronger in engineering than UVA, but UVA has a better overall academic reputation so for an engineering student the prospects after graduation are probably pretty equal. There's a lifestyle choice: cosmopolitan Charlottesville or laid-back Blacksburg? Red brick or "Hokie stone" buildings? 15,000 or 27,000 students? Thomas Jefferson or (insert VT tradition here)? Blue Ridge Foothills or Appalachian plateau? Blue or maroon? Football or lacrosse? The list goes on and on...

VaTech definitely has the better engineering program but is less prestigous...UVa isn't really known for engineering but I do now that they do have bioengineering which i think VaTech does not even have.

As for chances to UVa..in my opinion it is a little more of a slight reach. It would be a reach for even in state students with those stats.

can you retake your sats?
did you take the old sat or new one?
All you need to have a much better chance at UVA is 50 more points on ur sat
with a 1350, you are a midrange sat student for out of state.

Good luck

UC Merced-reach........

Northeastern would be a match for engineering. The average SAT/GPA score for the engineering program is much higher than the overall school average.
