1590: Cancel Scores?!?!?!?

I Think I'm going to get a 2200 on the June SAT. Think I should cancel my scores??? I just know I can do better!

I can't seem to tell if you're serious or not.

Seems like a silly post to me, because how can you possibly know that you're going to get around a 2200?

In any case, if that's a lot below your standards, cancel it. If not, don't. I got a 2200 my first time, which admittedly was below what i wanted, but not so much that i needed to cancel it. Even if you're a 2400 or bust sort of person, a 2200 is far from a terrible score. I'd suggest just retaking it.

But i suspect that you're filling the board with nonsense posts. Please don't do so in the future.

Isn't it too late to cancel, anyway?

And... it's too late to cancel your june scores, so i suppose the point is moot.

i don't think its a good idea to cancel your scores if you think you are going to get a 2200 even if youare aiming for higher. You can still do better a second time around and colleges won't think less of you just because you got a 2200 the first time around. You probably already knew this already but also, let's say your individual scores were (700V 800M 700W) to equal 2200. Then the second time around you get (760V 760M 770W) to equal a 2290. A lot of coleges will see your score as (760V 800M 770W) to equal a 2330.

psssh I would never take the SAT again if I got a 2200.

Yeah, shut up.

Why would anyone cancel a 2200? I got a 2180 and I'm probably not even going to retake it.

Haven't you heard that SAT scores really don't mean all that much?

While the difference between a 2200 and a 2400 is significant, it wont shift your application package across to the accept or reject side single-handedly. As always, it is much more important to work on secondary (or in my view primary) tune ups to your application package, such as extra currics, essays, awards, recognition, gpa, etc.

SO, if retaking the SAT will greatly affect your other application package contents, dont retake it.
The opposite will also hold true.

I got a 2180, retook and got lower haha

geeez...i got a 2130 first time and i was actually excited.. hrmm i think im too dumb for this site o_O

bepiozo-

i feel the same..

you two aren't alone.

All my friends at school (which is a ridiculous college prep school that was 9th in the nation my sophomore year) thought my 2180 was really really good. I thought it was really good, too. And then people here are like "oh my god, I got a 1540 TRAGEDY!!!"

Then again, we never know who's telling the truth about their scores on stuff.

Isn't the original poster saying that s/he got a 1590 the first time and wants to cancel those scores with the anticipation of something closer to 2200 this time?
