1700-1800 to 2000+

Okay so I've been getting 1700-1800 on my practice Tests but my last chance at a 2000 or higher is oct. Which is less than 17 days away. I've been practicing and I don't know how to make my score go up. Here's a break down and I'd liek someone to give me advice for each section. Id really appreciate it.

Math- 620-650 (Get a few wrong here and there, any tips to improve this would be great)

Writing- 570-640 I always get a few wrong and i ALWAYS get the last 5 wrong in the paragraph thing and having to correct the sentence or what the passage is SAYING and all this other crap. What do i do so i don't make those stupid mistakes?? I always get 13 wrong and skip TWO. Please help me with this.

CR- 500 I've been studying vocabulary but haven't practiced yet but I think vocab will help me and that thread by Notriep or w/e haha. But please, if anyone can gives tips here too thatd be great.

PLEASE give me some tips or something for each section to get my scores up to 2000+ by Oct , please.

To establish my credibility, I’ll state the following tips with my scores.

Math: 800. From what I have seen with my friends is this: the test is not difficult in the sense that it is extremely advanced. Rather, the test is made to trick you. When you take the practice tests, you have to time yourself. IF you find that you have ample time, do every question BY HAND as you won’t make as many errors. Try to read the questions (particularly the graphs) with the utmost clarity- that is, look out for EVERY word. This is a skill acquired by taking multiple practice tests. I always found the math section to be rather easy compared to the others, but either way, make sure you practice practice practice.

Writing: 770. Writing is very simple to master. They ask the same type of questions over and over again just in a different sentence. I always liked to read short, intense articles (I personally like science) in order to master the grammar. For the passage part, I would recommend underlining the parts pertaining to the question in the passage prior to reading. This will have it stand out, and hopefully you can see it more clearly. The essay is fine if you know how to write it (read the how to get a 12 in 10 days thread). Writing requires LOTS of quality practice (reading the questions you got wrong) from previous SATs.

Reading: 700. This was always the hardest section for me. The vocab was part luck (whether you know the words) and also part skill. Be careful on the vocab, there are important words that make the sentence change meaning, such as “but”, “however”, etc. Also, for me, I would go through the answers choice by choice- I would cover the other four answers with my hand so that I don’t see ten words at once and become confused. This helped me a lot. The reading has many strategies. You could underline what line pertains to what question, but I would recommend going one step at a time. Don’t read the whole thing and then answer questions- not only will you forget the answers but will waste much needed time. Again, practice makes perfect, but you have to remember that they are out to trick you. I personally took AP Lang my junior year (last year) and found that this helped me on the reading immensely. It makes you look at the piece in an unconventional way, and studying for the AP Lang multiple choice made it a lot easier to learn the SAT CR. And, I ended up with a 5 on the AP! (this is coming from your quintessential science and math nerd!)

Good luck, don’t stress, go to sleep early, etc. and with the necessary preparation, you should be fine.

First, Get 800 in math section. Getting 800 in math section is extremely easy than in critical reading section or writing section. Also in writing section, especially grammar, you can get 47-49(raw score) if you look again what you wrong.
And critical reading is very difficult to go up… just get three critical reading books and solve it… and if you wrong a question, you should know why each choice is wrong or right.

thanks guys, anyone else?
