hi,
i only have 1820 on sat (760 math and 530 on CR and W), 3.95 uw gpa. Do i still have a little chance for UIUC?

Yes, you do. I believe UIUC doesn’t care for the Writing score, but I’m not positive. That would put your M+CR score at 1290, which with a 3.95, is competitive for UIUC. It also depends on your major - Engineering will be much more difficult.

I would need a lot more information to assess your chances accurately, though. (Course rigor, ECs, etc).

i only lived in US for 2 years, so my first year in US is Junior year. and i only took Calc AB ,honor chemistry and some basics classes in 11th.
Here is my 12th class.
AP Calculus BC, Economics-Honors,Spanish II-Honors,Marketing Communications III, AP Physics B Lab,AP Physics B, English 12-Honors,AP Statistics, AP Physics C independent Study, Multivariable Independent Study
ECs (no good at all):
- TSA, DECA, Math league,
- volunteer 30 hours
- part-time job at a research company

minority, first generation. 800 on Math II(but they do not look at subject test right?)

For major, can i choose undecided and than change to engineering?

bump?>???

If you do undecided -> engineering, choose your classes wisely; even then, it might make you spend 5 years at UIUC rather than 4.

Undecided UIUC: Low match
Engineering UIUC: Match/high match

Catria, thank you

i just look at UIUC website, there is " A minimum requirement for competence in English" it says:
(1) Have completed all secondary (years 9-12) and post-secondary schooling in Australia, Canada (excluding Quebec), Great Britain, Ireland, New Zealand, or the United States (excluding Puerto Rico). OR (2) Have scored at least 25 on the ACT English portion or a 550 on the SAT I Critical Reading portion. ACT or SAT scores that will be used to fulfill the English proficiency requirement must be taken within two years of the student’s date of enrollment in the University.

i had my 9th grade outside US, only 530 on CR and no TOEFL,
what should i do?

Contact admissions. That’s hilarious though.

I think your GPA is so good; it really helps! Just because you don’t have a stellar test score doesn’t mean they’ll throw out your application; people know that some just aren’t great test takers. I think you have a really good chance at UIUC! Also, though, I agree with Catria. Go in undecided for less competition. Your ECs and everything else look good! Good luck!

Chance me back?

quick update
thats their email reply:
You cannot be admitted if you do not meet our minimum English proficiency requirements. You should not apply unless you meet these requirements. If you cannot meet these requirements for freshmen admission, I suggest working to improve your SAT scores or take the TOEFL and apply later as a transfer student.
Does that means i have no chance? :(
