1890 = 1st Practice SAT Test

Hey CC'ers! I just finished taking a practice SAT test (on the CollegeBoard "official sat study guide") with a score of 1890.

Critical Reading: 570
Math: 680
Writing: 640 (w/ a subscore of 62)

My ultimate goal is to get a 2300 and above, and this is my first time taking a practice SAT test. I'm only a sophomore. Should I be worried??? Is there room for improvement? How can I improve my CR score especially? How hard is it to improve my SAT score?

*1st time here posting on the CC forums! :D

Did you take the PSAT as a sophomore? That would help get a good estimate. You see, most people go up 5-6 points between their sophomore and junior PSAT’s. That means 50 or 60 SAT points. If you take the SAT as a senior, you may get a full 100 points higher than you did as a sophomore, but the jumps are rarely drastic.

Your scores can go up, but getting above a 2300 is a lot to ask for. Writing is easy to improve (just learn the 5 or 6 rules they test on) and math can be improved with a lot of work. But reading… I guess you know it or you don’t.

@Annfc yeah, I got a 172. Is my jump that significant? And yeah, I know that 2300 is a lot to ask for, but at least I’m setting a long-term goal. Do people usually just practice until they can get a higher score? Thanks for the help!
