Im 19 ^ just finished high school finally! But Im enrolling to a cosmetology school and wont be done till im 21. This has probably been posted before but is that going to be wierd? Does anyone have any personal experiences with this?
Im probably going to be in a different place then most 18 years olds. (But I love to have fun so thats not a problem). I over-think everything hence why im writing about a problem thats not going to happen for 2 more years lol.
Please help :3

I don’t understand what it is you’re asking.

Is it going to be weird that you’ll be 21 when you finish cosmetology school? I don’t see why it would be. My niece is 17 and about to start cosmetology school. I also have a friend who is in her late 20’s and is about to start cosmetology school. So, if your age is your concern, then no, there’s nothing weird about it.

Which cosmetology school are you going to? As strange as it sounds, I’m a mid 20’s guy that’s majoring in math and physics, and I actually know a decent amount about cosmetology schools, because I’ve been helping my niece check them out for the last few months…lol

Yes, it will be very odd. In every school and work place, people are all exactly the same age, in fact that is the very first question asked of each other : How old are you?

I hope you felt my joking sarcasm. No, being a year or so older that some people, but younger than others is not going to be weird at all. It is only k to 12 schooling and summer camp where we artificially group people by age first! (like 7 year olds can really teach other 7 year olds good behavior, or how to read!) In work, college, professional conferences, etc, you will always be with people of mixed ages and experience, which is why it is so much more valuable and enjoyable than k-12!

Sorry lol what I meant to say is that I will be done with cosmetology school when im 21. After that I will be enrolling in college! Im just a little nervous about what my experience will be. I usually hang out with older more mature people but going into college I will be older than most student (in my mind most people that are younger that me have not matured mentally yet). I would just like to know if people have personal expierences with this.

& thank you teachandmom that was vary helpful :3

When you are looking into colleges, you may want to look for schools that have special programs for the “non-traditional” student. These programs usually seek students coming from community colleges with strong grades, or students who have not yet attended any college, but had strong high school grades and interesting life experience. These schools often have special scholarships just for older students too.

May I ask why you’re planning on going to cosmetology school and then straight into college?

What is your long-term plan? It seems to me that if you want to do something in cosmetology you don’t need a college degree. (Even if you wanted to start your own business and take business courses, it’d be a good idea to have real-world work experience before going down that route.)

If you don’t plan on doing anything with cosmetology, then why are you going to cosmetology school?

No I get my hair done at a cosmetology school and most students tend to be 20+

I think they get done in 9 months depending on how many clients they get to gain experience its Marinello though
