How are the dorms at 1915 Hall, Butler College? Is it sub-free? Does it contain only singles or mostly doubles?

As one of my best friends who lived in 1915 last year put it, 1915 is "the suburbs of Butler." Along with Bloomberg, of course. You don't live on the main Butler quad, so you've escaped small rooms, waffle seelings, and horrendous architecture. You've gained pretty big rooms for a freshman (if you're a girl, this is especially important since the female side of the building is nothing but large singles). The sexes, if you haven't already gathered, are split up. One side is all-female (all singles), the other is all-male (all triples with a common room, I believe). You're right next to your dining hall (Wu), which pays off during the winter.

Essentially, your housing's excellent.

are there any doubles?

I'm pretty sure they're all either singles (for girls) or triples (for guys).

I lived in 1915 last year and loved it so much that my roommates and I are living there again next year. All the guys have triples with a suite and two bedrooms, and all the girls have large singles. Other advantages are:
1) Right next to the dining hall (Wu)
2) Much nicer building than the rest of Butler
3) Big bathrooms (only one for guys and one for girls, but are much bigger than the claustrophobic closets in some of the dorms, like Walker)

Personally I liked having the sexes separated - some of our best friends were in the girl's side of 1915 and we had no problem walking the <5 seconds to their side of the building to see them, but it was nice for all of us not to have the worry about the opposite sex while going to/from showers, etc.

While the dorm is not technically sub-free (I believe the Butler sub-free dorm next year is 1942), the people it attracts (separated sexes, singles for the girls, etc.) generally keep themselves out of trouble.

I like the description of 1915 as the "suburbs" of Butler - I think I'll start using that next year. Anyway, why do you ask, beeme? Will you be joining us next year?
