1960 Diagnostic....raise to 2150+?

On my diagnostic exam I received:
Math: 680
CR: 680
Writing: 600

My goal is to bring math up to a 800, CR to 750, and Writing to 690-720

Any tips on to going about doing this? Books? Tips? Guides? Thanks

That’s everyone’s goal, but it ain’t gonna happen lol. Once you have a certain grade, you don’t increase much. The higher your score is, the less you will increase. You are saying that you essentially want to increase your score by 300 points. That isn’t gonna happen buddy. Don’t set unrealistic expectations. 800 on a section is not a reasonable goal.

@stemsurfer - it seems you’re new here. FYI, Annie’s opinion is his/her own; many here would disagree and in fact many have posted about the exact opposite. You’ll see that as well as a lot of excellent ideas for a study plan if you read the stickied threads in the SAT Preparation sub-forum. Feel free to ignore strongly opinionated, highly negative, unsubstantiated opinions.

@Anniebeats I completely winged the March SAT and got an 1830. After about 5 meetings with a tutor and completing a few blue book sections a week, I was able to raise it 210 points to a 2040. Anything is possible, bud

@conservativearts 210 and 300 are very different, especially when your goal is a perfect section.

Annie, stop being so negative. I averaged around an 1800 on the diagnostic tests I took in freshman year. With prep classes and the blue book I got it up to 2360 the first time I took the actual sat in junior year. I just wanted to let you know that anything is possible with hard work and dedication, so you should really stop trying to crush this guy’s dreams and being a downer.

My diagnostic test was a 1920. After taking a prep course and 5 fully timed tests later, I got a 2240. Anythings possible with the effort and sacrifice.

Annie, are you ready to stand down? Others have clearly indicated that their experience is different than your opinion.

UPDATE:

I took the SAT in October and received a 2080 (750 math, 680 CR, 650 writing with 9 essay). I then took it again this December and received a 2340 (800 math, 760 CR, and 780 writing wtih 12 essay) anything is possible

I went from a 1560 diagnostic a year ago and just came out with a 2100, 800 on math, it’s not impossible, you just have to grind through it.

I went from a 1930 to a 2200 with some regular studying, nothing fancy. It’s definitely possible o_o

I think what Annie might mean is that it may be hard for a person to go up a lot after studying for a long period of time. Like I studied hard for my PSAT’s in junior year and since then to the december of this years SATs I went up 280 points. For me I kind of reached a plateau after so much studying.
