<p>What do colleges like better: A first generation student or a student with legacy?</p>
<p>I think it depends on the college you’re applying for. I know of some that specifically do not ask you if you are a legacy (but ask if you are a first generation student). I also know a few that I wouldn’t be too surprised if they balanced out legacy before 1st Gen.</p>
<p>If you go on collegeboard, they’ll tell you if relation to an Alum is inportant.</p>
<p>Why do you ask? Are you in a position to choose one or the other?</p>

<p>It is to my understanding that legacy only has any considerable weight if the alumn has been making contributions to the school. Yes? No?</p>
