Which gives you a bigger boost- being a legacy or a first generation college student?

<p>Notre Dame, for example, is an university where legacy counts for more than a first-gen does. I don’t know what kind of Us would prefer first-gens, though.</p>

<p>Yeah, I think it really depends on the university. Plus, I don’t think there would be a surefire way to tell which is more important unless an admissions officer from that specific school explicitly states which gets more weight. I think most common data sets weight first-gen and legacy status both as “considered.” I guess if they were categorized differently you could tell.</p>

<p>My guess is that legacy would have a bit more weighting to it, but I don’t know.</p>
