1st Quarter Grade Drop (Extenuating Circumstances)

Hi everyone,

I had a great transcript with all A’s up through junior year, and I applied to all of my schools early action. Unfortunately, due to emergency surgery towards the end of 1st quarter, several of my grades are low. I have gotten into several colleges, but I am waiting to hear from several more who seem to want first quarter grades. If my counselor explains the situation, will these be looked at in a more forgiving circumstance? Does anyone have any experience they can share, positive or negative?

Assuming it was truly an impactful extenuating circumstance beyond your control, colleges will certainly be understanding.

Having your counselor provide the details will be best.

Thank you for the response! It was emergency surgery so not something I could’ve controlled. Hopefully it all works out!
