1st semester Senior Grades makeup for not so good soph/junior year?

I'm a rising senior applying to Vanderbilt, I'll select arts&sciences undeclared.

Sophomore year I did very average, 4 A's and 6 B's. (weighted GPA 3.57)
Junior year I came in with the mindset to improve but I immediately I contracted ulcers which severely limited my academic performance, even though I didn't have to go to the hospital. I ended junior year with 8 B's...and 4 A's. My total academic GPA weighted is 3.67 and unweighted 3.5

If I get all As on my report card for first semester (ends January 30th), can that compensate at all for my last 2 years? I have a 2290 SAT.

short answer? yes, it can. make it happen. don't dwell on excusing for lack of stellar grades on your essays though, talk about how you've found passion and are running with it.
