I'm a rising senior and my 1st school semester ends around December 23rd. I wanted to apply Early Action, which is due Nov 1, and even RD is due mostly Dec 1. I was betting on higher senior grades to help my GPA and class rank. What do I do? I cant be the only person with a semester ending after application dates

^I had the same question because my first semester doesn’t end until the end of January, which is after the regular decision deadlines for some of the schools I plan on applying to.

EA applications’ decisions do not include first semester Senior year grades. It’s all based on the first 3 years of work.

For those who want the boost by a good performance in their 7th semester, RD is recommended. EA or ED should be weighed carefully by you.

but my first semester grades won’t be up for most RD deadlines either?

^They don’t have to be in by the RD deadline, you have your school send them when available, usually sometime in Jan. Go to college Admissions websites, you will see that for many schools there is a requirement to send a mid-year grade report.

As T26 says, EA decisions are made on what you’ve done through jr year. If you need a sr year boost, go RD.
