Hi I had several questions about students who attended one of the satellite campuses their first two years then attended main campus their last two. I was wondering how it is socially and academically (main Smeal/business). Did it seem like you were out of place when you went to main campus your last two years because everyone seemed to have known each other already? Did you find that attending the campus you felt out of place or didn't get the full college experience because you commuted? My biggest concern is academics. I plan to major in marketing and Smeal is only at main campus. If you were a business major, did you feel as if you had to really try to catch up with your business courses? Did you feel you received a good education at the satellite campus?

I believe that in the College of Engineering about thirty percent of the grads come from branch campuses. If they were not adequately prepared for their third year classes the College would be setting itself up for major difficulties. I haven’t heard of any problems. I think it is reasonable to assume that the situation in Smeal is similar. (I think that, like the College of Engineering, Smeal also has minimum GPA requirements for entrance into some majors.)

Academically I believe you’ll be fine because as 1more stated if they didn’t do a sufficient job preparing you for main campus, it’ll just bite them later.

You will likely be missing the college feel at a lot of the branch campuses though, the ones without residence halls anyway.
