2.5 gpa

at the moment i have a 2.5 gpa. my grades freshman/soph year were horrendous (obviously). there were reasons for my poor performance...it wasn't just blatant stupidity, but now that i'm in the last leg of junior year and looking at a cumulative 2.6/2.7, what is realistically going to be an option for me in terms of schools? (SAT scores around 1750)

ideally i'd like to go to a 4-yr liberal arts college, but i haven't found one that would even consider someone with my grades. i'd like to look at schools in new england/cali (i know, opposite ends of the country) or even canada. does anyone have suggestions for schools? i know that community college is an option, but honestly i'd really like to find something else. suggestions?

You don't have to go to a community college. Any more details about the type of liberal arts college you would like? Religious vs. secular? Co-educational or single-sex? Big on sports, or subdued? Liberal or conservative? So many factors to think about...

did u make high Cs or low Bs?

you have many options; 4 year new england schools that are worth checking out (varying selectivity):
univ. of hartford
sacred heart (ct)
salve regina (ri)
roger williams (ri)
springfield college
assumption (ma)
endicott (ma)
suffolk (ma)
wheelock (ma)
lesley ma)
lasell (ma)
western new egland (ma)
champlain (vt)
st anslem (nh)
franklin pierce (nh)
canisius (ny)
manhattanville (ny)
iona (ny)
clarkson (ny)
pace (ny)
adelphi (ny)
elmira (ny)
sienna (ny)
rider (nj)
fairleigh dickinson (nj)

thank you sooo much for all the replies! its incredably helpful. huskem55-i really appreciate the list! i'm definately going to look into these schools.

hmm, details... i haven't really been affording myself the luxery of specifying a type of school, but ideally:

relatively liberal
medium sized (more than a couple thousand, less than 15,000)
in/around a city, (i'm in love with san francisco and nyc, but thats not necessary)
co-ed
decent campus/classrooms
good journalism/communications major

as for religious affiliation or sports involvement, i really don't care.

my grades have honestly been allll over the place, A-F i failed 2 math courses and had like 2 D's (cringe), some As, Bs and Cs. Now I have all As but it's last semester junior year...so that doesn't influence the GPA too much.

thanks again!

Suffolk University

Ya know, NJ youngin --you don't seem to have much nice to say about anything do you?

This kid will be fine

^ Poor brainwashed soul :(

(referring to NJyoungin)

He's not brainwashed, just stupid.

That's not very nice. You don't know him.

Right...because NJyoungin seems like such a nice person...and as a "nice" guy, he deserves respect...

ignore him, hes a troll.

That, or he's sarcastic.

k123l: Colleges won't scoff at an all-As semester late in the game. I'm not saying you're Harvard bound, but Community College is not at all necessary for you. There are a lot of (good!) colleges that take kids like you.

Keep asking around and check out the colleges on the lists you get. Try also using USNEWS's and College Board's services for matching up to a school. You have a fairly clear set of preferences, so their college search functions may help.
