What cooleges in Texas preferabbly would accept a 2.8 gpa and 28 act score?? I have 11 AP classes and 6 IB classes?

Maybe you should thin out your AP/IB classes in an effort to raise the GPA. Spk w/your guid counselor about college choices for students of similar academic success?

Is that 2.8 a weighted or unweighted GPA? Did you do better or worse in core academic subjects? If your school is like most with IB/AP classes, you would not have been able to take them if you had not maintained a decent GPA. Are you a rising senior? I don’t see any reason to drop your rigorous course-load, especially if you do well enough on your IB/AP exams to possibly earn college credit for them (this would be especially beneficial at a less-selective college which you might want to transfer out of or take higher-level classes). Are you a TX resident? Do you want a public college for financial reasons? From what I understand, UT-Austin is out of reach for you, but other state colleges should be possible.

Texas A&M maybe?

Are you in state or out of state? What is your class rank? Are you looking at private or public schools?

I want to go to a TEXAS school and i am from TX

As someone else mentioned what kind of GPA is it, weighted or unweighted, overall or academic only GPA?

I suggest trying Naviance or Cappex and plugging your scores in. I really like Cappex, you can pick the states and put in GPA and SAT and they give you a sense of your chances as well as data on each school.

A 2.8 unweighted GPA with tough classes is not that bad - not Ivy, but not that bad.

Texas State University.

<a href=“Freshman Admission Requirements : Undergraduate Admissions : Texas State University”>http://www.admissions.txstate.edu/future/freshman/admissions-requirements

They have automatic admission. A 28 should get you in, if you’re in at least the third quartile.

My S’12 had just a bit higher than that (UW with difficult courses) and the same ACT. He was focused on midwest LACs and was accepted to almost all of them.
