<p>That depends on your other stats. Research experience? LORs? GREs? Sometimes taking a subject test and doing very well can offset a poor GPA, so I’ve heard.</p>
<p>3.0 is a strict cut off for quite a few places. If you want to do PhD, I would recommend either taking a few grad courses or do a masters, and do really well, to show you’re capable of handling graduate level coursework.</p>
