2.9 GPA Awful freshman year, upward trend, chances?

Alrighty, my unweighted GPA is a 2.9 as of the end of my junior year. Spread out, the individual years look like:

Freshman year: 2.14
AP US History (failed 1st semester, took honors second semester), Honors Algebra 2 (D first semester, failed second semester), Honors French 4 (D first semester, switched back to French 3 second semester), Pre-IB English, Pre-IB Biology, Honors Jazz Band

Sophomore year: 3.2ish
AP Gov (3 on exam, C first semester, D second semester), AP Music Theory (4 on exam), Honors Chem, Honors Pre-Cal, Honors French 4, Honors Jazz Band, Pre-IB English

Junior year: 3.78
AP Calc BC (5 on exam, B 1st sem, A 2nd sem), AP Physics B (5 on exam, A both semesters), AP English Language (4 on exam, B both semesters), Honors Modern World (A's both semesters), Honors Jazz Band

Senior year: Probably either a 3.85 or a 4.0
AP Environmental Science, AP English Literature, IB Higher Level Math, Honors Jazz Band, US History A, Electives

SAT: Math - 710, CR - 600, Writing - 610

There has obviously been tremendous improvement, part of which is due to having been tested for ADHD/learning disorders and receiving medication and coaching after my freshman year. I plan to put that on my applications and have letters sent out from my counselor, etc.

Extracurriculars:

Lacrosse for sophomore year
1st trumpet in Honors Jazz Band, played in the pit orchestra for school musicals.

My strong points lie in my AP Physics/Calc scores, and my trumpet playing. I want to ideally double major in music/engineering.

Schools to which I would like to apply:

University of Marlyand College Park (Would be in-state)
The Ohio State University
University of Cincinnati
Michigan State University
Penn State University Park
Temple University
University of Delaware
University of Maryland Baltimore County

Bump, because some fellow by the name of Davidoga decided to flood the forums with multiple posts.

If you can make a compelling argument (and I think you can) as to why your GPA suffered during your Freshman and part of your Sophomore year, you have a realistic shot at all the schools on your list with the possible exception of UMaryland CP. Your SAT score is on the lower end of the Maryland CP applicant pool. Another thing to look at is which of these schools does not take Freshman year into account when computing GPA, if any? Good luck. I commend you and your family for taking the necessary steps toward acknowledement and treatment.

My math score is in the top 75th percentile of College Park. The University of Maryland is my heart-set top choice school, so hopefully things can work out.
