well if I dont get in I already got accepted to csu Fullerton so whatever

Anthony- I’m not Asian. But I am a minority and I just don’t like negative stereotyping. Such nonsense will never stop unless unless someone fights back. Anyway thanks for the numbers, it proves my point.

End of posts on thread-GL.

There’s a thing called affirmative action, which makes it legal to favor underrepresented minorities. UCs are definitely making it harder for asians and whites while favoring hispanics and blacks. It’s not fair that UCs categorize applicants not solely by academic history and family background but also their skin color, but affirmative action makes it legal.

Nobody is playing the race card, I think mrandall is just talking about how it’s unfair UCs does that to get diversity. Anyway, good luck anthony.

I agree with affirmative action because you cant just have all overachieving Asians.America is such a diverse country that what makes it so wonderful and I think the colleges should be diverse too.

Im not against it and I agree. But categorizing people by skin color is racist and the only way to end racism is to not talk about it. I think it’s better to favor people with disadvantaged family background, which makes more sense if they really want diversity.

@ghib I definitely agree. I’ve heard people suggest that people who grew up in tough neighborhoods regardless of their race should have an easier time getting in as they did not have an equal opportunity. I think that is a better idea then breaking it down by race.

Ah i agree with mrandall… I am taiwanese and originally from Taiwan. I didn’t have much opportunity going school there… I understand that UCs want diversity but it’s better if they look at people’s background and what they’re limited to… rather than just their race…
