2 Ds Senior Year

Well I am battling with depression and anxiety disorder which caused my grades to suffer but I did not know if that would be a good idea to include that In my letter since it is a really personal thing so I did not. Should I have?

Do you think if I could retake the class at an online high school and get an A or something would that help?

honestly i doubt colleges will excuse your grades based on depression and anxiety disorder. Its not that plausible of a reason to expect your grades to drop based on those two things. Sorry to be cynical, but i think thats how colleges will see it.

I can not believe this one semester of high school can F-up my whole life.

sorry i was talking to the person who started this thread. @dreams16, i'm not really sure why you let your GC convince you to take an AP science class ( which are usually some of the harder APs) if you want to be a journalism major. challenging yourself is good, but why not take another AP that is less demanding. unfortunately you have a D in a class you really shouldnt have taken. can you drop it this semester? honestly i dont know if it will cause them to reject you or not.

I can but I think that I am just going to get a tutor and work my butt off and prove to myself that I can pass the class. I also plan to take the class over again on an online high school so that should help a little.

unfortunately, your doing well second semester will have no influence on the results of your college admissions...

OP:

D's in math and science courses will likely preclude acceptances into highly ranked math-science schools. The UCs require a 3.0 gpa unweighted; if lower, acceptances will be rescinded.

^3.0 uw requirement is only for UCLA/UCB. I believe UCI, UCSD, UCD are all weighted.

I plan to take the first semester of the class again starting next week will this help. I am hoping my school will allow me to change the grade on my transcript. Will this help?

bump bump bump

help please............

Dreams16, you're bumping someone else's thread... I mean, they made the thread because they wanted she/he and now people are confusing him/her with you. Maybe let people take to the original poster for a bit, okay?

Usually making a thread for yourself is better than 'hijacking' someone elses thread, but the answer to this issue usually the same (I'll summarize it for both you and the OP):

If there was a good reason for why you had the bad grades (Ex: Illness, death of a close family member), then get an uninterested third party (doctor, guidance counselor) to write a letter to the colleges.

If there was not a good reason then DO YOUR BEST. If you're put on a waitlist then they'll see your final grades (and colleges to which you've already been accepted will NOT want to see Ds as final grades). Unfortunately, doing badly one semester can hurt your chances, but we don't and can't know how much it'll hurt. It's already done, so we sort of just have to hope for the best.

Good luck to both of you! I know that senioritus can be a really sneaky opponent.

(BTW: I'm also wondering about the Ds in math and science and all those tech schools. Was there another reason for those bad grades, OP? You sure you want to do math/science for the rest of your life? I hope you're choosing your carreer/college on what you really love to do instead of focusing just on money... I'm just saying this because I used to think I wanted to go to a couple of those schools- it took me a bit to realize that I just don't love math/science that much.)

Ok thanks sorry. :(

It's no big deal, I just wanted to give you a heads up and sort of try helping at the same time. I probably wouldn't have mentioned it if the thread had gotten so confusing (if you noticed, a lot of people were confusing the OP as you).
