  1. I submitted my appication on Nov 12. Are my odds of getting in severely affected? SAT 1590 3.85 UW GPA, NMS Semifinalist. I originally thought admissions at UF would be easy but I have heard they are more selective. Do they reject applicants with tests like mine? Also I have good enough ECs, plenty of serving the community and all that bs. However I am a WASP and their demographics indicate maybe a third is reserved for WASPs which isnt as bad as ivies but we are still very underrepresented.
  1. Judt to vent why are UF admissions so carcinogenic? Coalition = annoying trash, self reported transcript = annoying (just read my real one omg), Nov 1 deadline = too early, decisions = too late, holistic = political discrimination etc.

PS: Where are the schools that select based on test scores? I would at least like the option of an intelligent community that doesnt have “holistic” admissions that make it the oppression olympics.

If you are not from one of the impacted areas, then you missed the Nov 1st date and that will significantly hurt your chances at admissions.

UF doesn’t consider race in admissions (State law). It does however consider “First generation” to go to college as part of holistic admissions. UF demographics represent a very large state, with a large Hispanic population, that has good access to accelerated programs, like AP classes, IB and AICE programs and CC duel enrollment classes (all support by state funding). Some of the best high schools in Florida are in South Florida.

Lets look at the 6 year graduation rates at three, highly ranked public universities that have large Hispanic populations, UF, UT-Austin and UC-Santa Barbara.

UF
UF Overall Graduation Rate:88%
White Graduation Rate:89%
Hispanic Graduation Rate:88%
(within the margin of error)

UT-Austin
UF Overall Graduation Rate:83%
White Graduation Rate:86%
Hispanic Graduation Rate:75%

UC-SB
UF Overall Graduation Rate:81%
White Graduation Rate:84%
Hispanic Graduation Rate:77%

UF’s holistic admissions is targeted toward bringing in a wide range of students, that will all excel in academics. It’s a major pain, and sometimes feels random, but based on student outcomes, it’s mostly successful.

How significantly will it hurt my chances (like what’s the late acceptance rate) and can my big numbers save me or no?

Trying to see if I want to spend money on an FSU application in case the Gators are too good for me

I honestly want to emigrate south badly and Florida is probably the king of southern states on my list
