20 units too much?

I'm thinking of signing up for 20 units next semester. It would be Hebrew 20B, Nutri Sci 10 (for the bio breadth), Poli Sci 4, Env Des 100, City Planning 114, and African-American Studies 24. Would this be doable? Nutri Sci 10 is known as an easy class and AAS 24 is a freshman seminar.

No. It’s fine.

It depends on whether or not you’re really active in extracurricular stuff, internships, etc. But I think 20 units is probably pushing it a little bit. Also, it depends on what you’re taking now–if you’re already taking 17 units and you feel like you can handle more, go ahead. But if you’re taking 14-15 units and are thinking of jumping to 20…I would reconsider. Not that you won’t be able to handle it, but you want time to do things other than study for your classes, you know? Especially with a language class (Hebrew), as those have a lot of work.

Also, I took Nutri Sci 10, and while it’s definitely not hard, it’s not as ridiculously easy as everyone makes it out to be. If you’re just doing it for breadth though, that’s fine. Don’t hesitate to put it on pass/not pass if you feel like you need to concentrate on your other classes though, because breadth classes take a backseat to major courses. But why not skip the freshman seminar? Unless if you have a strong interest in learning about African American Studies, I don’t see any reason you’d need to take it. You’ve got 18-19 units without the seminar, which is more than enough.
