So what do you guys think is like Number One thing to study the most for the DBQ?

I don't think you need to study much for the DBQ. The documents already provide you with a strong hint. Last week, our APUSH teacher gave us a DBQ on Eisenhower and the Cold War (we had just finished learning about Korea, and we hadn't started on Ike yet), but most of us in the class got 8-9's on it.

i'm not scared abotu dbq cuz the documents save me
But the free responses, they are like KNOW ALL or KNOW nothing.
Anyone have any good free response topics to study?

Yes, study the Fragility of Goodness: Luck and Ethics in Greek Tragedy and Philosophy, a book by Martha Nussbaum.

Because you're going to need the luck, and if you don't get it, it's going to be a tragedy. That is my Philosophy

TBizzle Out' Ya Heard?

Hamster, thanks so much for posting that list. Its extremely helpful and exactly what I was looking for. Thanks again!

Another one for the Guilded Age.
our schools USH teacher precited it today...

if you guys dont know the answer to something, worst come to worst write about civil disobedience and how you cant be forced to write about something you dont feel appropriate :]

Have Any More Teachers Given Predictions For The Dbq/ Free Responses!! Plz Post!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The Gilded Age sounds like a pretty good guess, but I'm skeptical as to how much you could talk about that, seeing as that period is considered to be the "forgettable president." What about World War I, or even the period leading up to that? That period doesn't seem like it's been covered recently...

Gilded Age-->big bizness, SCANDAL (tons of these you could talk about)..railroads, etc (haven't really studied this section yet so I'm still kinda weak)

My teacher thinks the 70's and our poor performance in foreign policy and he's really set on immigration (I guess college board said a few years ago they have a DBQ ready for this), possibly comparision between the two waves? I think the guilded age sounds likely also.
Also, was the progressive era separate from the Guilded Age?

My teacher predicts:
Gilded Age or possibly Vietnam War

As someone who took the exam last year, I'm guessing it will be what I thought it would be last year: Indusrtialization/The Guided Age.

My teacher feels that the DBQ could possibly be on the Vietnam War

His reasons (not mine)

Really was never covered in a DBQ (at least recently...or has it ever been?)

Now we are far enough away from the event so it can be a topic, whereas it wouldn't have been in the 80s or 90s
? Not sure if he will be right but it sounds like a possibility. I'm just annoyed that it won't be colonial..=(

dbq is so easy, stop worrying about it

last year i didnt know what the hell the french and indian war even was but after i read through all the articles and pictures, it's really easy to figure out and they give you everything you need for the essay, it's just like a jigsaw puzzle

It can't be that hard since they refuse to disclose the time period. I think they toned it down in recent years; the French and Indian War was pie. The hardest one was a year or two before they refused to release the time period, 1998. I don't think it will be as hard as that one. Google it, it's extremely difficult

so gilded age it is?

So what exactly about the Gilded Age do you think they'll have on the DBQ? Like what documents, topics?

my teach has been right the last 4 years and she has been teaching APUSH for almost 30 years at my school. she predicts one of these:

-differences btwn AOC and Constitution
-Grant presidency era
-Progressivism

Do you guys realize how scared I was when I read the question to the DBQ last year? French and Indian war...you have got to be kidding me!

That's one of the things I didn't even review because it was like the first chapter of my history book. But seriously...it's so easy to get through these essay questions as long as you have a basic knowledge of US History. They give you enough documents so that you'll be able to figure stuff out on your own.

I ended up getting a 4.
