hey 2+2=5 did u feel that you bs'd any of the free response questions? cuz i think those are the hardest cuz they give no documents. just wondering thanks

Everyone is saying Gilded Age or Progressives. And my teacher has all of these other topics, she made an actual outline, but yeah..seems like G.Age & P are the most popular so far. Study minorities folks. Gilded Age was also a time of miniority for those farmers.

As for the other free response questions, I found them to be very easy. If I remember correctly, you get choices...and thankfully, I knew atleast one of them in every section well enough to write a decent essay on.

I was ecstatic when one of the essay questions asked to write about political compromises that reduced sectional tension from 1820-1854. I talked about all sorts of things, like the Missouri Compromise, Compromise of 1850, Kansas-Nebraska act, etc. It was so much fun writing that one because everything flowed so easily off of my pen on to the paper :)

The other essay I wrote asked to analyze the successes and failures of US Cold War policy of containment as it developed in 2 of the following regions during 1945-1975

East and Southeast Asia
Europe
Latin America
Middle East

This one wasn't as easy, but I managed to mix in some truth with some BS that I thought sounded correct and I ended up with a decent essay.

Here is the scoring guideline for the 2004 US History exam: http://www.collegeboard.com/prod_downloads/ap/students/ushistory/ap04_sg_ushist.pdf

Good luck.

sarorah, last year one of the essay questions asked to compare the progressive era to the new deal period so I don't know if it would be so likely for that to show up as the DBQ.

I know, that's exactly what I told my teacher. And I swear, she sits for hours and studies these types of trends..and she said that whatever an essay topic is 5 years ago, it's a very good chance to becoming a DBQ. So I'm guessing progressives were on the test 5 years ago.

saraoh my ush teacher told me the same thing. she said that DBQS always appear as essays in years directly preceding that.

my teacher last year SWORE that there would be a question, either essay or DBQ, about jacksonian america. since there wasn't last year, i think there's a shot for this year.

I think DBQ will have to do with Mexican War... just my guess since everyone else says it's Guilded Age... why not take a shot in the dark and say Mexican War/Expansionism!

Is guessing the DBQ/FRQ before an AP test allowed?

why not ? i mean it would defy logic not to try and guess lol :D

Blah. I'm getting a 2 on APUSH. I know absolute NOTHING about it pre-20th century. Let's hope it's on the Vietnam war.
