Ok... so most colleges require it within 2 days nad I still do not have the 2006 income returns ( we usually do it in late march like the rest of the country). Can i submit 2005 returns instead?

The idea is that you are estimating 2006 income. So no, just putting down 2005 income is not the right idea.

Thanks but no, I didn't mean the estimated income for the upcoming year... I meant all the boxes that I have to fill out on the app form from last year's return (the rest of the fin aid application). The problem is that my family has yet to submit the 2006 returns, so I can't fill it out

You can submit the FAFSA and PROFILE with estimated figures but then you have to go back once your taxes are done and revise the numbers with the correct figures. They need the correct figures in order to prepare your financial aid package.

My understanding is "first come, first served," so you should really encourage your family to complete their 2006 taxes as soon as possible. Waiting until March (like the rest of the country) could cost you substantial financial aid.

Good luck

What if they are requesting the 2006 Federal tax returns to be sent in as well? My parents don't have any of this because the ocmpany they work for don't have this available yet

Employers are supposed to send out W2s and 1099s by Jan 31st.
