Is there anyone who applied as a junior transfer?I'm a chemical engineering student at PSU.I want to transfer to Upenn as a junior(ie. im applying this fall-sophomore year). And consequently,i know my college grades will be more regarded than my high school stats. What are my chances?

HIGH SCHOOL
G.P.A- 2.97
SAT- 1200-620M 580C(took it only once in the 10th grade after moving to the U.S from china-im originally from africa though-mom is a diplomat so i've travelled a lot)
I want to try and explain my poor highschool record in my application-Just moved away from my mom who i'd lived with for 15 yrs,had a rough time adjusting when i moved to the U.S,etc.Do you think this is a good idea?Or should i just forget about that

COLLEGE
First Semester
Calc 1 B
Gen Chem 1 B+
Gen Chem 1 Lab A-
Honors English Composition B+
Honors Theatre 105 B+
G.P.A- 3.26

Second Semester
Calc 2 A
Honors Gen Chem 2 A-
Physics(mechanics) A
Engineering Design and Graphics A-
Microeconomics A
G.P.A- 3.88

Cum. G.P.A so far- 3.6

Assuming i get a 4.0 next semester, i'll have a 3.75 G.P.A by the time im applying..I hope an improvement in grades counts for SOMETHING.

-I tutored Calculus 1 and Gen Chem 1 my freshman year and will be tutoring Calc 1,2 and Gen Chem 1,2 this fall.
-I'm doing an NSF-REU chem engr. internship in two weeks(research)
-I received a $6000 chem engr. scholarship right before summer break, from the chem engr. department in my school(surprised the hell outa me..didn't apply for it)
-I'm fluent in french and just started learning chinese
-I'll get excellent recs from my math and physics professors.I've established great relationships with them and they actually wrote the recs for the internship i'm about to start.
-Active member of honors club
-And i should have really good essays

You know...the schools I applied to were either small and organized (Swat, Wes) or large and disorganized (Penn, the now-infamous Chicago).

Also - I saw an article somewhere yesterday saying that 25% of college students now transfer at some point during their college careers. Inteeeresting.

Yeah I really don't know what they're doing. Of all schools I've ever applied to, I have to say that Penn handles its transfer admissions in the worst possible way. Shame on them.

yeah it seems kinda random. i got my acceptance several days ago but im an international student and i submitted my app on the last possible day

why would mr. sanguine getting accepted last friday (during the first wave) prove anything about strong applicatns getting it after the first wave, bball?
