OK, So post here if you applied to Upenn.
State any interesting facts about Upenn transfer experience.
such as acceptance prediction, doubt, problems, and questions that you might have.

I for one is wondering how much of a difference, applying to wharton vs A&S
is in terms of acceptance.

Also, Is it significantly harder to get in to Penn if you are applying for a
fin AID?

Short Stat. 1420, Top 20 LAC, 1st sem: 3.93, mid sem: A, A, A+, English (not sure as of right now bt is in the range of c+ to A)

SAT: 1520 + 700
CUNY Baruch College 3.5 :(
Mid sem: Mostly A's.
Recs: Good, but honestly, does prof write a bad rec? I think only those that say the student is exceptional matter.

Since I'm an international student, applying for aid really messes up my chances. So I didn't....which was an 'interesting' decision, as I probably won't be able to go even if I get in.

I doubt I'll get in. I rushed my essays, and my stats aren't that high (HS GPA was fairly low, stupid IB). If I get rejected, and I probably will, I will put the letter away and go on with my day. It won't affect me too much since I don't have any high expectations.

And it says that your location is Colby College, so you don't have to hide your college in your post! :P

Currently at Cornell University
SAT: 1450
SAT II: 750/740/70
GPA: 3.6 first semester, second semester mid-term GPA: 3.895 with 17 credits
Recs: very good, i presume
ECs: one very important one, research, i am a presidental research scholar at cornell (only 1 of 50 out of 3000 freshman). I was selected before I arrived at Cornell, apart of the cornell committment.

High School Record; top 2-3 percent, all aps/honors, very competitive high school

Currently at NYU
SAT: 1500
SAT II: 800/800/750
GPA: 3.93
Recs: Presumably good, but probably not exceptional
ECs: Pretty standard, again, nothing exceptional. I guess the only significant thing is that I'm part of the Honors program here.
High School Record: valedictorian, top 0.1% of high school graduates in Australia (from nation-administered examinations).

Penn is my 2nd choice.

Jacknjill: I'm an international student too but although I need aid I didn't apply for it lol... So I prolly can't attend anyways (unless my father wins the lottery or something).

Currently ay Miami (OH) University
ACT: 32
GPA: 4.0 through first semester
Recs: one should be great, one should be ok
ECs: normal stuff I guess
High School: 2nd in class, 4.556 GPA

I'm concerned about the Midterm Grade Form. Miami's admissions called me and told me no midterms are available. I then called UPenn and the person told me just to write "Grades not available, a final transcript will be sent." Should I call again or let it be until they contact me?

I don't have high hopes for this school...I'm expecting the worst at this point.

Honestly, I didn't take the process seriously enough. I'm planning for law school and looked much too far into the future. I'm hoping I can fix it, but everything's a long shot.

bball87...just curious, how do you get a 70 on the SAT? If you get everything wrong, it's a 200.

I have a question...I really want to go to Wharton but my grades are kinda atrocious for freshman admissions (well, not THAT bad...like 3.52CUM up to 2nd term of junior year...I have like 4 trimesters of HS left)...seeing as how I'll get like a ~2160 on the SAT, there is no way I can get in as a soph/junior transfer to Wharton right, even if I, by a stroke of luck, end up at NYU Stern and get a 4.0 like straight through? Just curious.

hey everyone. i was just wondering how much do you think SATs are going to weigh for freshman who are transferring into wharton next year. i'm at NYU (Stern) and i've done pretty well academically, am very well involved (inclusive to a Presidential position), and think that my application is pretty solid (high school record is great). well, everything except for my sat/act scores (710M, 610V, and 28ACT). I think my scores are what held me back from admissions last year (deferred then denied), and am worried it might the same for this year. I truly thought Penn might realize my lousy test taking skills are clearly not representative to how well I will do in college, as my gpa this year shows. I've just worked way too hard, have done so much, for something like the SATs to continue to haunt me after high school. What annoys me most, however, is actually knowing MANY people at NYU whose SATs are in the 1450s, who were granted scholarships over me because of this, yet who are pulling around 3.3 GPAs. What are you all's thoughts? Thanks and good luck.

I'd say you have a good shot. I think business schools look at your math score more anyway, and having such a high GPA from Stern would help you a lot. Also, you were deferred before, so its not like your not Penn material (well, not necessarily). I'd say say you have a great shot.

Currently at University of California, San Diego
